Rising Sun Construction was hired to complete the restoration of Glassboro’s Historic West Jersey Train Station. In 2014, the train station, located on Whitney Avenue, was the only New Jersey site selected to receive the Preservation Achievement Grand Jury Award. This award is given to individuals, organizations, businesses, and projects that exemplify outstanding achievement in the field of historic preservation throughout the region, from the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia. Glassboro Township and the Glassboro Historical Society used the federal stimulus grant to restore the station to its original glory. This meant all of our work had to comply with the guidelines set forth by the National Register of Historic Places. Rising Sun Construction was contracted to complete the Envelope Waterproofing and Sheet Metal Roofing with metal flashing and trims. This historical landmark will now host rotating historic exhibits, a Visitor Center, and historical displays.
For this Restoration project, Rising Sun’s responsibilities included:
- Complete Envelope Waterproofing
- Complete Sheet Metal Roofing with Metal Flashing and Trims
- Complying with National Register of Historic Places Guidelines
