Originally built in 1883 to provide living quarters for the keeper of the Sandy Hook Lighthouse, Rising Sun was hired to complete the Restoration. As with the restoration of any Historical Landmark, the goal was to maintain the integrity of the site, the history, and the original plans while also making it safe and functional for modern necessities. With that in mind, we rebuilt the fascia and roof deck and installed new waterproofing to the wood deck with a fully soldered stainless steel flat seam. This will help protect the deck for years to come, allowing the Keeper’s Quarters and Visitor Center to continue delighting visitors.
For this Restoration project, Rising Sun’s responsibilities included:
- Rebuilding Fascia
- Rebuiling Roof Deck
- Installing New Waterproofing to Wood Deck
- Maintaining Integrity of Historical Landmark
